Tom's Trip to Genova
July, 2004
Over the July 4th weekend, I left for Italy to attend a
conference of all the regional environmental protection agencies of
Italy. I presented a paper on the American hazardous site
remediation program (Superfund) and its applicability to Italy.
The venue was the old Cotton Exchange in Genova harbor. Here is a
view of the harbor area showing the hills rising up from the Tyrennian
Sea.
Here is an interesting concept of how to show
Christopher Columbus's birthplace.
After the conference we took short trips to areas on
the Cinqueterra. Here is a view of Santa Margherita di Liguria.
We had a delightful dinner in Portofino with friends
from the conference.
We also took a train ride along the Cinqueterra and
stopped in Vernazza, one of the more picturesque towns.
